👋 Howdy.

I grew up in the 90s, and back when AOL was still stocking malls and
grocery stores with floppies avertising "100 minutes free!" in little
paper sleeves, I used to steal them everywhere I went. In my childhood
room I had stacks and stacks of these things, and while I only
occasionally did anything with them, the _idea_ of having access to this
thing that, in my mind was like the closet door to Narnia, was thrilling.

My dad was a tinkerer and had many computers, and eventually gave me one
that had a modem in it. I had a phone line in my room, so I plugged it in,
pulled out some of my stashed disks, and I was exploring AOL's curated
content! Even as it was, it was magical! Eventually I wandered around
_long enough_ that I found my way _out_ of the curated stuff and on to IRC.

Lord knows how, but here we are, thirty-something years later, and I'm
still _very_ excited about it all the time.
